Born 10th May 1960, Paul David Hewson (Bono) is the lead vocalist and main song writer in the band U2. He grew up in Dublin, Ireland and went to Mount Temple Comprehensive where he not only met his fellow band members, but also his future wife Ali Hewston.

Bono is rarely seen without wearing a pair of sunglasses. His reason being that his eyes are highly sensitive to light and swell or go red when exposed to strong light.

As well as appearing with U2, Bono has done several solo projects and has appeared with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Luciano Pavarotti, Ray Charles, BB King, to name but a few.

Bono has become famous for his humanitarian work. He has met several world and religious leaders including the Pope and has visited the White House. He has fought for issues such as dropping the debt owed by developing countries and irradicating Aids in Africa.
